3.1 Tests according to Charpy
The Charpy frames consist of a solid cast base body. Test-specific parts, such as supports and anvils, are selected according to the specimen spectrum. The anvils, whose roughness and radius can have a significant influence on the measurement results, are fully precision CNC-manufactured and 100% measured. ZwickRoell does not offer one-piece anvils, which are difficult to manufacture with precise dimensions. When installing the anvils, their spatial position relative to the pendulum blade is ensured using an optional gauge. Anvils are subject to higher wear than supports; two-piece anvils can be replaced cost-effectively and independently of other accessory parts. To adjust the impact point to the specimen width in the direction of impact, quick-change adapter plates are used. Adaptation to specimen thickness (vertical direction) is accomplished using appropriately dimensioned supports, positioned precisely by locating pins. For the impact frame, a swiveling safety screen and alignment units are optionally available, allowing the specimen to be aligned either at the notch or at an end face to the center of impact.
